The pentagram is a five-pointed star that is a symbol of man with his five limbs and five sensory organs. It also represents PHI or the Golden Rule of the Universal Law in which all nature and humans must live by to evolve. The pentagram is also used in both white and black magic to invoke light energy (angels and saints) or dark energy (devils and demons). Think of it as a symbol in the occult (hidden) world that represents both, an enter and an exit door for the spirit and astral world in which we cannot normally see with our own two eyes.
Not all magicians or adepts use the symbol of the pentagram in the same way and there are two main types such as the above image that are mainly used in the occult world. The upright and proper pentagram, with one point in the air or pointed upwards and with the two points downward represents spirit over matter, such as the image below that shows the various elements of the five points represented in spirit, air, fire, water, and earth. This is the pentagram used in white magic to give the magician noble powers.
An upright pentagram to the occultist in this position as indicated in the above image can have a very powerful effect, especially against evil spirits.
However, when the pentagram figure is reversed or turned upside such as the image below, it is a symbol of black magic or Satanic rituals that actually attract evil spirits and or demons, that are then invoked during these rituals in which the black magician wishes to have these demons perform special work for themselves.
This is called an inverted pentagram and it represents that the animal body has power over the soul or the spiritual body, and is primarily used for perverted powers by followers of the Left Hand Path, black magicians and Satanists. For example, the image below with the two points (horns or feet) of the star in the air and with the head or point down or on the ground (descendant position) signifies that the animal is paramount over the spiritual.
According to Wikipedia, the inverted pentagram symbol is used in Neo-Paganism, Satanism, and black magick, as well as in Freemasonry, and is the official symbol of the two largest satanic churches; the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set.
The Masonic women’s organization, The Order of the Eastern Star uses the inverted pentagram as their symbol (such as the image of the patch below). However, it is said that the pentagram whether right side up or inverted has never appeared as a part of regular, recognized Masonic ritual or symbolism.
The highest decoration for valor in the U.S. is the Medal of Honor, which is an inverted pentagram.
In the future during the reign of Christ, these Medals of Honor will simply be upright because they will symbolize the protection of Christ’s kingdom or the Most High.
16th century master French occultist and magician, Éliphas Lévi had wrote:
The Pentagram, with two horns in the ascendant, represents Satan, or the goat of the Sabbath, and with the single horn in the ascendant it is the sign of the Saviour. It is the figure of the human body with the four members and a point representing the head; a human figure-head downward naturally represents the demon, that is, intellectual subversion, disorder, and folly.
Those people who abuse these powers for self gain and or perversion will certainly suffer the wrath for such selfish abuse. As Manly P. Hall says in the Secret Teachings of All Ages;
The pentagram is used extensively in black magic, but when so used its form always differs in one of three ways: The star may be broken at one point by not permitting the converging lines to touch; it may be inverted by having one point down and two up; or it may be distorted by having the points of varying lengths. When used in black magic, the pentagram is called the “sign of the cloven hoof,” or the footprint of the Devil. The star with two points upward is also called the “Goat of Mendes,” because the inverted star is the same shape as a goat’s head. When the upright star turns and the upper point falls to the bottom, it signifies the fall of the Morning Star.
The black magician cannot use the symbols of white magic without bringing down upon himself the forces of white magic, which would be fatal to his schemes. He must therefore distort the hierograms so that they typify the occult fact that he himself is distorting the principles for which the symbols stand. Black magic is not a fundamental art; it is the misuse of an art. Therefore it has no symbols of its own. It merely takes the emblematic figures of white magic, and by inverting and reversing them signifies that it is left-handed.
The mysteries of magic by Éliphas Lévi, Arthur Edward Waite
the Burning Star which, when inverted, is the hieroglyphic sign of the goat of black magic whose head can then be sketched in the star with the two horns above, the ears on the right and left, and the beard below, sign of antagonism and blind fatality, the goat of lewdness assaulting heaven with its horns, a sign execrated even in the Sabbath by initiates of a superior order.
Fatality alone exists, God and spirit do not exist. Matter is the grand totality, spirit the dream of demented matter. The form is more than the idea, the woman more than the man, pleasure more than thought, vice more than virtue, the multitude greater than its chiefs, children above their fathers, and madness more than reason.

I live in a small town in Louisiana. These symbols are all over graves in the local cemetery. What does this mean???
I got an inverted pentagram on my left palm. Does anyone know what that signifies?
if so, write a detailed message.
Moe, what did you, as a male claiming the title of a Gnostic Warrior, feel when you posted the snippet in which the inverted pentagram supposedly represented women above men? As it is an inversion of the supposed “divine” and “correct” order, the logical conclusion is that the man should in fact be [valued, honored] above women – a strange belief to have for a Gnostic familiar with the creation story in which the malevolent Demiurge usurps Sophia’s own divine power for himself. This is in addition to our own brutal, and continuing, history of mistreatment and devaluation of women.
Regardless of any potential thoughts you may have on historical revision in this sense (I understand there is a MGTOW movement), I am curious as to how you would personally reconcile the gender dynamic at play here with regards to pentagram symbolism.
Gender has nothing to do with the inverted pentagram. The pentagram upright represents the spiritual human whether it be a man or woman. When the pentagram is inverted it is simply a symbol representing fleshly or animal life over the spiritual whether it be a man or woman. With that said, as far as I’m concerned and the history of symbology, there is NO gender dynamic at play here with regards to pentagram symbolism.
I just read your article on Baphomet that: “the meaning of Baphomet is “Father of the Temple, universal peace of men.” The “father” would be “Amon”. AND: “that Satan, as a superior personality and power, has no existence.” So how come the inverted pentagram represents the devil? the goat head in the inverted pentagram on the up most picture looks more to me like the head of Baphomet? – So if the normal pentagram represents the “man (or human?)” could the inverted pentagram not really represent the “woman (or Amon maybe?). Just my thoughts when reading this article. please note I am not educated on these matters/subject although i find them intriguing to read about.
It is always good to question on instinct, that which remains unsaid as being some form of truth and then weaving them into the tapestry of understanding. For example, I recently saw a video about “rolling” a goat (a rather chaotic personality in nature as oft are also women in relation to rationality… thus pregnancy being an act performed by beasts of burden?) so as to establish the herd position of dominance and then after, loving them up so that their horns do not get used against you.
The medal of honor is inverted pentagram? Isn’t that insanely suspicous?
