Aristotle had said, “The only stable state is the one in which all men are equal before the law, ” and Edmund Burke stated, "There is but one law for all, namely, that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity -- the law of nature and of nations."
In this episode of the Gnostic Warrior, I interview a 35 year criminal defense lawyer, Gary Wenkle Smith. Gary hails from San Bernardino, California and has defended people from all walks of life in some of the most serious felony defense cases known to law. Serious felonies such as defending people who are facing murder charges that could result if convicted, to life in prison or the death penalty.
Gary has seen our criminal justice system from the inside and out all the way from vindicating his clients of murder charges that were just defending their lives and property, to the dungeons of death row and the appellate court system.
In this podcast he educates us on the state of the legal system that is framed around English Common Law which was designed to constitute law and order. How has the Patriot Act of 2001 affected our legal system and rights under the constitution, and what he recommends people do if they are arrested or being threatened with arrest.
Oscar Wilde, The Soul of Man Under Socialism, "As one reads history, not in the expurgated editions written for schoolboys and passmen, but in the original authorities of each time, one is absolutely sickened, not by the crimes that the wicked have committed, but by the punishments that the good have inflicted; and a community is infinitely more brutalised by the habitual employment of punishment than it is by the occasional occurrence of crime."
This interview was conducted by Moe on March 6, 2015 from San Diego County, California, with Gary in San Bernardino, California.
