666: The Meaning of the Number of the Beast

666: The Meaning of the Number of the Beast

666 is the number of the beast (666) in the New Testament and Christian numerology. It is mentioned only once in the Bible and is associated with the apocalypse and what Saint John calls “The Beast.”

The Book of Revelation 13:18-19 reads:

“Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.”

Scholars of the Apocalypse agree that “no other problem in Revelation has given rise to so many speculations as that of the meaning of this number (666)”

The Bible does not give a definitive answer.

However, the association of 666 with the Beast, the devil, the Antichrist, and Satan is a long-standing one that has its roots in both Christianity and Judaism. Some Bible scholars say that the number stands for “the man of sin” who will deceive many and lead them astray.

Satan himself will one day come to power and rule over the world for a period known as the Tribulation. The Tribulation is said to be a time of great suffering, and those who do not know Christ will be subject to the Antichrist’s rule.

In modern times, some people have speculated that the mark could be a physical brand that identifies those who worship the beast. The prophecy has also been interpreted as meaning an identification device like bar codes and biometrics earlier but now it seems more likely that they are predicting some type of implantable chip for humans called “the number”

Today we have smart technology and biometrics to ID all citizens globally:

“Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead” (Rev 13:16).

This would also make it easier for the Beast or Satan to find and persecute his enemies.

Some Christians believe that 666 is a symbol of materialism and evil, and other people believe that it simply represents the imperfection of humanity. Some Bible scholars and esotericists believe that 666 is representative of man in his natural state – sinful and separated from God.

Meaning that 666 is the number for all of humanity, since man was created in God’s image.

Other people speculate that the mark could be a 666 tattoo or other physical markings that identify someone as being a follower of the beast.

For example, the Covid vaccine with governments around the world mandated forced vaccinations have been suggested to inject the mark into unsuspecting citizens under the guise of a pandemic. Perhaps, as some people say, there is a magnetizing substance hidden in vaccines such as graphene, which is magnetic and makes it easier for governments to track their citizens.

But what does 666 mean?

Whatever its origins, 666 has come to be widely recognized as a sign of man, sin, evil, and darkness. As far as people representing 666, the list is endless.

The most popular theory is that it refers to the emperor Nero, who was responsible for the burning of Rome in AD 64.

“The name ‘Nero Caesar’, written in its Greek form, yields the exact number 666”. This has led some to claim that Nero (who was Roman emperor from 54 until he died 68) was the Antichrist.

In 66, when Nero was emperor and the Jews revolted against Rome and coined their own money. The Greek word translated as a mark (of the beast), χάραγμα, also means stamped money or coin; “no one buys or sells without the money of the beast.”

He was responsible for persecuting Christians in Rome during his reign and may have even ordered their deaths by burning them alive inside a coliseum specially designed for this purpose (the Colossus). He also tried to rebuild Rome after it had been destroyed by fire in 64 AD.

Many Protestant theologians and authors such as Martin Luther and John Calvin identified the beast of Revelation 13 with the Roman Catholic Pope. Luther said that the “Pontifex Maximus” (Pope) was first considered uncontrollable about the year 666 A.D. Like Luther and Calvin, later Protestant writers identified the beast of Revelation 13 with the pope.

666 A.D. is the year when Wilfrid returns from France, newly consecrated as Bishop of York and the subsequent conversion of the Saxons from Paganism to Christianity. King Lucius is exhorted by Pope Eleutherius to prize the law of God far above the law of Caesar – “superior papal authority and dominion is derived from the law of the Caesars.”- Lucius Ferraris

One of the titles of the Pope is the “Vicar of Christ,” and in Latin “Vicarius Filii Dei.” In English, this means “Vicar of the Son of God” or “Substitute of the Son of God.”

As Pope Boniface VIII proclaimed in 1302 “Unum Sanctum”; “We, therefore, assert, define and pronounce that it is necessary to salvation to believe that every human being is subject to the Pontiff of Rome….. That which was spoken of Christ…

‘Thou hast subdued all things under His feet,’ may well seem verified in me. I have the authority of the King of kings. I am all in all and above all, so that God, Himself, and I, the Vicar of God, have but one consistory, and I am able to do almost all that God can do. What, therefore, can you make of me but God ?”

Boniface had feuded with Dante and excommunicated the French King Philip and several others from the church. Shortly after making the proclamation and excommunicating King Phillip, Boniface was imprisoned and beaten to death.

In his Inferno, Dante portrayed Boniface as destined for hell and recalls the story of the pontiff’s feud with the Colonna family, which led him to destroy the city of Palestrina, killing 6,000 citizens and demolishing both the home of Julius Caesar and a shrine to Mary.

Other candidates for the Beast include Caligula and Charlemagne and as time moved on, more people and suspects have been added to the list by authors and speculators. People like Napoleon, Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, John Kennedy, Sun Myung Moon, Mikhail Gorbachev, Henry Kissinger, and the US President with 6 letters in each of his names, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

The British occultist, black magician, author, and secret British spy, Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) proudly proclaimed himself The Great Beast 666. Crowley believed or acted as if he was an agent of the devil to help bring about humanity’s spiritual evolution.

Entities such as The World Bank, The Ecumenical Movement, The Council on Foreign Relations, The United Nations, The European Community, The Trilateral Commission, and one of the newest conspiracies is the mysterious CERN and all the weird events surrounding this agency.

Again, the list goes on and on…

However, the facts are that up until recent times, only trusted scholars and Fathers of the Church were trusted with the translations and interpretations of the Scripture.

When we study the traditional literature of the early church in which Saint John was involved, we see a common Apocalyptic theme among all Biblical scholars. This is the ancient struggle for world supremacy between the Greeks in the East and the Romans in the West and the priests, spies, leaders, and philosophers who defined them.

If we follow early tradition, we will see that many early Church commentators like Ireneaus believed that the Beast and the number 666 were connected with the Ancient Roman Empire (Latin).

One of the earliest commentators on the Apocalypse of the Blessed John, Saint Irenaeus proposed the Greek word “lateinos” in connection with the name and number of the beast. The letters found in “lateinos” add up to 666, which means in English, “Latin man.”

The Latin Empire was intended to replace the Byzantine Empire as the Western-recognized Roman Empire in the east, with a Catholic emperor enthroned in place of the Eastern Orthodox Roman emperors. The “Roman Empire” encompasses the history of the Romans from the origins of the Empire in approximately 45 BC.

The Greek Byzantines referred to the Latin Empire as the Frankokratia (Greek: Φραγκοκρατία, lit. “rule of the Franks”) or the Latinokratia (Λατινοκρατία, lit. “rule of the Latins”).  It was at the conquest of Constantinople in 1453 during the Crusades and the institution of the Latin Empire under the Knights Templar and the installation of Baldwin of Flanders as “emperor” in 1204, until the Byzantines retook Constantinople in 1261.

Saint Victorinus of Pettau was an Early Christian ecclesiastical writer who flourished in about 270 AD. Victorinus associates the number 666 with Phoebus, also known as Apollo, an angel of light and knowledge in Greek and Roman mythology. Victorinus’ account diverges from the traditional line of thought associating 666 purely with evil and instead believed it was a “Apollo Helios” who is cut off from the light and then transforms himself into an angel of light.

He wrote in Commentary on the Apocalypse of the Blessed John;

“In Hellenistic times, especially during the 3rd century BCE, as Apollo Helios he became identified among Greeks with Helios, Titan god of the sun.

His number is the name of a man, and his number is Six hundred three score and six.” As they have it reckoned from the Greek characters, they thus find it among many to be τειταν [teitan], for τειταν [teitan] has this number, which the Gentiles call Sol and Phoebus; and it is reckoned in Greek thus: τ three hundred, ε five, ι ten, τ three hundred, α one, ν fifty,—which taken together become six hundred and sixty-six.

For as far as belongs to the Greek letters, they fill up this number and name; which name if you wish to turn into Latin, is understood by the antiphrase DICLUX, which letters are reckoned in this manner: since D figures five hundred, I one, C a hundred, L fifty, V five, X ten,—which by the reckoning up of the letters makes similarly six hundred and sixty-six, that is, what in Greek gives τειταν [teitan], to wit, what in Latin is called DICLUX; by which name, expressed by anti-phrases, we understand Antichrist, who, although he be cut off from the supernal light, and deprived thereof, yet transforms himself into an angel of light, daring to call himself light. (Commentary on the Apocalypse of the Blessed John)

Swedish Christian theologian, scientist, and philosopher, Emmanuel Swedenborg believed that the mark of the beast received on the forehead or the right hand (Revelation 13:16) “signifies the acknowledgment of being a Reformed Christian, and confession that he is so” and “the name of the beast signifies the quality of the doctrine.” (The Heavenly Doctrines 1758)

Swedenborg said that the number of the beast signifies the quality of the confirmation of doctrine and faith from the Word among them. Six hundred and sixty six signifies every truth of good, and as this is said of the Word, it signifies every truth of good in the Word, here the same falsified, because it is the number of the beast. The number six hundred and sixty six is used, because that number six is tripled, and triplication completes.”

Christian author, Tom Horn says: “[m]any Christians believe that, before long, an antichrist system will appear. It will be a New World Order, under which national boundaries dissolve, and ethnic groups, ideologies, religions, and economics from around the world, orchestrate a single and dominant sovereignty…

According to popular Biblical interpretation, a single personality will surface at the head of the utopian administration… With imperious decree the Antichrist will facilitate a one-world government, universal religion, and globally monitored socialism. Those who refuse his New World Order will inevitably be imprisoned or destroyed,” Horn said.

As you can see, just like many alleged figures in history may be the Beast, there are almost as many theories among religious scholars and authors. However, a few common themes appear with most of them.

First of all, the Beast will be a man connected to the Tribe of Dan, the Latin Empire, the Franks (French), and Rome.

This man will be associated with a person who is mostly called the “Antichrist” and sometimes by the name Satan whose rule or governmental system will come in the so-called end days of the days of Revelation.

It will be a New World Order. What appears to be a global Socialist empire.

Saint Hippolytus (born c. 170—died c. 235) understands the fourth kingdom of Daniel as Rome. Hippolytus wrote in his “Treatise on Christ and Antichrist”;

“By the beast, then, coming up out of the earth, he means the kingdom of Antichrist; and by the two horns, he means him and the false prophet after him. And in speaking of “the horns being like a lamb,” he means that he will make himself like the Son of God, and set himself forward as king.

And the terms, “he spake like a dragon,” mean that he is a deceiver, and not truthful. And the words, “he exercised all the power of the first beast before him, and caused the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed,” signify that, after the manner of the law of Augustus, by whom the empire of Rome was established, he too will rule and govern, sanctioning everything by it, and taking greater glory to himself.

For this is the fourth beast, whose head was wounded and healed again, in its being broken up or even dishonored, and partitioned into four crowns; and he then (Antichrist) shall with knavish skill heal it, as it were, and restore it.”

This commentary by Hippolytus is interesting because modern-day Russia is sometimes referred to by the Russians themselves as the Third Rome.

As if they were the current torchbearers of the Ceasars. An empire that may have never ended.

For the last few years, the most observant Orthodox Church leaders in Russia have been protesting against the use of “satanic figures”, such as the “internet, smartphones, tax code, and Covid.”

Recently on September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin presided over a ceremony at the Kremlin to annex four Ukrainian regions partly occupied by his military forces.

During the 37-minute address, Putin decried “Satanism” in the West and U.S., referring to a radical denial of moral, religious, and family norms as well as transgender issues.

The overthrow of faith and traditional values. Indeed, the suppression of freedom itself has taken on the features of a religion: outright Satanism,” Putin proclaimed.

In January 2019, Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church proclaimed that the Antichrist was here and would eventually rule the entire human race over the worldwide internet web. He said, “The Antichrist is the person who will be at the head of the worldwide web, controlling all of humankind.”

“That means that the structure itself poses a danger. There shouldn’t be a single center, at least not in the foreseeable future, if we don’t want to bring on the apocalypse.”

“Every time you use your gadget, whether you like it or not, whether you turn on your location or not, somebody can find out exactly where you are, exactly what your interests are, and exactly what you are scared of,” Kirill continued. “Such control from one place forebodes the coming of the Antichrist.”

The “devil acts very wisely” in offering people such a “toy”, he said.

In May 2020, the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church and the most authoritative member of the Moscow Synod, Metropolitan Ilarion (Alfeev), conveyed similar revelations about the time we are living;

“There is, alongside the hypotheses of biological warfare, also the possibility of bio-psychological warfare, when trying to instill fear in the population, to control it in a more radical way, “Ilarion told the Rossija-24 TV channel. He, therefore, called for the development of “strong immunity not only physically, but also spiritually, in the strength of mind”.

Valentina Pashenko, president of the “Committee in defense of the family and morality” in Voronezh, denounces the use of biometric fingerprints to enter bank and government buildings and rejects electronic texts.

Speaking to the BBC in April 2019, Valentina said that “when all personal data will be stored in one system, evil people will be able to exclude any unwanted person from the system”.

“First pensions and then all other information about the person, his property, social rights, data on the family and children, school and medical data, salaries: the whole life of the individual will be inserted into an electronic number”,

Pashenko warns, “it is like the mark of the Stalinist camps, where our grandparents were sent”.

In our modern era, no other occult symbol or drawing has caused so much controversy and misunderstanding as the mysterious goat-headed half-human hybrid known as Baphomet.

Laboring away in his studies in the suburbs of Paris, Eliphas Levi published his famous book on the occult sciences in 1854 called Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie (Dogma and Ritual of High Magic). In this book, Levi revealed the secrets of a mysterious figure called “Baphomet”.

Some people believe that Baphomet is an image of Satan or the Devil. While others claim that it is simply a symbol of man’s animal and spiritual nature in which it contains the secret to enlightenment.

But what did Eliphas Levi truly mean when he created this mysterious figure?

In modern times, the image of Baphomet is one of the most famous esoteric images.

It is used by several occult organizations, but very little is known about its true context and its meaning remains largely obscure. Much of the confusion about its meaning can be related to the various interpretations and even propaganda published over the last two centuries by authors and esotericists.

Eliphas Levi was a French occultist and author. He was born under the legal name, Alphonse Louis Constant in Paris, France on October 28, 1810. As a young man he studied law at the Sorbonne University and served as an officer in the French army during the 1830s.

Levi was exposed to Freemasonry during this time and later became a Freemason himself. He also became interested in Spiritualism, joining the “Society of Psychical Research” in London, England in 1875.

Because of his associations and writings, he was eventually imprisoned for several months. After his release, he then devoted himself to magical and mystical studies, which culminated in the publication of his Magnus opus, Dogma and Ritual of High Magic.

To understand the original meaning of Baphomet, one has to examine this book. You will find that he explains in detail the true meaning of various dark esoteric enigmas such as Black Magic and what he thinks of the Devil and Satan in order to educate people about its dangers.

But Levi’s main focus in this book was by conveying what he called the tradition of “true religion” which he believed would be the final “synthesis of religion, science, and politics.”

The merging together of these various philosophies that have been opposing forces in society for many centuries up until modern times. As it relates to Baphomet, they are also inherent within humankind what is called “spiritualistic magnetism,” and mastering the balance of opposing forces.

That said, Baphomet was the symbolization of the equilibrium of energies within and outside the human body and mind.

One center of these opposing magnetizing forces comes from what Levi calls the “soul of the earth”, which could be equated with what religionists tell us literally is the Devil. The other force is a higher force associated with the “astral light.”

Man or women only become masters of themselves and their environment when they can properly harness and balance these energies. In other words, by being able to balance these forces, they become adepts in communion with the true creator or God.

I will go more in-depth on Levis teachings of magnetism, but first, it is important that I address the accusations made against Levi for being a Satanist and the figure of Baphomet representing Satan or the Devil.

Levi makes it clear in his book how he feels about the ideas of Satan, the Devil, and Lucifer.

He regarded the belief in Satan as nothing but “superstition.” (pg. 179) To Levi, this notion of Satan was not representative of dark forces, or Baphomet but human error (sin) and perversities. He wrote;

“Satan, as a superior personality and as force, does not exist. Satan is the personification of all errors, all perversities, and consequently also of all weaknesses.” (pg. 174)

In Levi’s opinion, the Devil was nothing but the malicious intentions of black magicians and their misled followers. Levi explains;

“The devil, in black magic, is the great magical agent employed for evil by a perverted will.” (pg. 175)

To Eliphas Levi, the practice of magic – either white or black – depends upon the ability of the adept to control the universal life force – that which again, he calls the great magical agent or astral light.”

Manly P. Hall wrote in his book, Dionysian Mysteries and Masonry that the image of Baphomet is NOT a Christian Devil but a symbol of the ancient alchemists representing Nature and natures God being a combination and balance of the forces, light and darkness;

“The Goat of Mendes or BAPHOMET whom the Templars were accused of worshipping is a Goat Headed deity, being formed of both male and female principles, with a Caduceus of Mercury in oplace of its Phallus.

One arm points up and one down , with the Latin ‘ Solve et Coagula’ written on them (meaning: ‘flow and ebb’)

This is NOT the image of a Christian Devil but a symbol of the ancient Alchemists representing Nature and natures God being a Combination & Balance of Male and Female forces, light and darkness, moisture and dryness.

The very principle of Hermes Trismegitus: As Above So Below” is what is symbolized by BAPHOMET…”

The name Baphomet is derived from Greek βαϕή baphe, βάπτω (“I dip”) “immersion” + Μῆτις, Metis “wisdom,” “skill,” or “craft.”

The meaning of Baphomet is “baptism” or initiation into wisdom.

In Latin, the phrase, TEM OHP AB (Temple omnium hominum abba), which is simply Latin for “father of the temple, universal peace of men.”  TEM OHP AB spelled backwards is where we get the word “Baphomet.”

In the book, “The mysteries of magic: a digest of the writings of Eliphas Lévi by Éliphas Lévi and Arthur Edward Waite, it explains the reason why this name was chosen.

“The Baphomets of the Templars, whose names should be spelt kabbalistically backward, is composed of three abbreviations—TEM OHP AB, Temple omnium hominum pads abbas, the father of the temple, universal peace of men. According to some, it was a monstrous head, according to others, a goat-shaped demon.

A sculptured casket unearthed in the ruins of an ancient commanday of the Templars was observed by antiquaries to be a baphometic figure, conformable in its attributes to our goat of Mendes and the androgyne of Khunrath. It is bearded, but with the entire body of a woman; in one hand it holds the sun, in the other the moon, joined to it by chains.

This virile head is a beautiful allegory which attributes to thought alone, the first and creative cause. The head here represents mind, and the female body matter. The stars, bound to the human form and directed by that nature of which intelligence is the head, have also a sublime significance.

The terrible Baphomet is, in fact, like all monstrous enigmas of ancient science, nothing more than an innocent and even pious hieroglyph.

Let us declare emphatically to combat the remnants of manichaeanism; that Satan, as a superior personality and power, has no existence.

THE DEVIL IN BLACK MAGIC IS THE GREAT MAGIC AGENT EMPLOYED FOR EVIL PURPOSES BY A PERVERSE WILL.”

In Dogma and Ritual of High Magic, Levi also clarifies that Lucifer is not Satan. He associates the fallen angel of the Bible with the concept of the Astral Light as it relates to his theory on magnetism. (pg. 178)

He explains that Lucifer and Satan came to symbolize the two opposing tendencies in human nature, which did not exist as independent forces but as positive or negative instrumentations of the Astral Light. (pg. 180)

Lucifer was depicted as the force of liberty and progress, while Satan stood for perversion and anarchy—this is the main reason why it is mistaken to identify the Baphomet with the inverted pentagram described in Rituel. (pg. 181)

Levi also addresses Baphomet and its association with the Knight Templar, who he maintained were Gnostics. They were the “torchbearers of the secret tradition of true Christianity, the “champions of humanity.” He  said, “Thus the Templars became the torchbearers of the secret tradition of true Christianity, the “champions of humanity.” (pg. 28)

In “The Classics of the Kabbalah,” he claims that the true meaning of the Temple was “a social utopia and a symbol for the perfect government, based on an egalitarian hierarchy of intelligence and merit.” (pg. 29)

Levi clearly states who the enemies are of this revolutionary Gnosis of enlightenment. He believed that it would bring about the age of reason and the second coming of Christ. Levi wrote;

“the so-called orthodox sectarians who obstinately deny progress” and “claim authorities that they do not understand”:

“The ecclesiastical hierarchy is only temporary and must end when the time of the virility of humanity has come, the age of force and reason” which will bring “the second coming of Christ,” the explanation of all symbolical figures, and the erection of the Temple.” (pg. 30)

This is when Levi says, “Then the universal religion will finally be realized”:

But this purified religion will not be invented, it exists and it has always existed in humanity; but it had to be concealed by the sages, because the vulgar have been incapable of comprehending it. It is the tradition of all the great sanctuaries of antiquity, it is the philosophy of nature, it is God living in humanity and in the world, it is being demonstrated by being, it is reason proven by harmony, it is the analogy of the contraries, it is faith based on science and science elevated by faith.” (pg. 31)

Author, lawyer, and 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason, Albert Pike quoted Éliphas Lévi extensively in his own Masonic magnus opus, Morlas and Dogma. On the subject of Baphomet, Pike wrote;

“Hierogliphically to express this law of prudence, they gave their mercury, personified in Egypt as Hermanubis, a dog’s head; and to their Sulpher, represented by the Baphomet of the Temple, that goat’s head which brought into such disrepute the occult Mediaeval associations.”

Pike says,

“The Gnostics held that it composed the igneous body of the Holy Spirit; and it was adored in the secret rites of the Sabbat or the Temple, under the hieroglyphic figure of Baphomet or the hermaphroditic goat of Mendes.” [Pike, op. cit., p. 734, teaching of the 28th Degree]

If one is to truly study Levi’s writings and not the opinions of others, one will understand that his intentions were to teach this ancient mystery tradition and clarify various magical teachings. One of the most important in what he describes as the “Great Work” is the eternal law of the opposing forces of nature in which the initiate is to strive to find an equilibrium between the two.

Levi wrote;

“This force was known to the ancients: it consists of a universal agent whose supreme law is equilibrium, and whose direction is concerned immediately with the great arcanum of transcendental magic. … This agent, which barely manifests itself under the trial and error of the disciples of Mesmer, is exactly what the adepts of the Middle Ages called the first matter of the great work.

The Gnostics represented it as the fiery body of the Holy Spirit, and it was the object of adoration in the secret rites of the Sabbath or the Temple, under the hieroglyphic figure of Baphomet or the Androgynous Goat of Mendes.” (pg. 13)

It is important that you understand that Eliphas Levi believed that the doctrines of the Church have been both corrupted and lost.

In the preface of his book, he explains the iconography of the various aspects and symbology that can be found in the figure of Baphomet. Levi wrote;

“The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top, a symbol of light, his two hands forming the sign of Hermeticism, the one pointing up to the white moon of Chesed, the other pointing down to the black one of Geburah.

This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice.

His one arm is female, the other male like the ones of the androgyne of Khunrath, the attributes of which we had to unite with those of our goat because he is one and the same symbol.

The flame of intelligence shining between his horns is the magic light of the universal balance, the image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame, whilst being tied to matter, shines above it.

The ugly beast’s head expresses the horror of the sinner, whose materially acting, solely responsible part has to bear the punishment exclusively; because the soul is insensitive according to its nature and can only suffer when it materializes.

The rod standing instead of genitals symbolizes eternal life, the body covered with scales the water, the semi-circle above it the atmosphere, the feathers following above the volatile. Humanity is represented by the two breasts and the androgyne arms of this sphinx of the occult sciences.” [3. Eliphas Levi, Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie]

The first connection of Baphpmet to modern Satanism arrives when the Brittish occultist and spy, Aleister Crowley adopted the symbol for the religion he invented called Thelema and his so-called Gnostic Mass. In addition, Satanic organizations like the Church of Satan and Satanic Temple have reappropriated and corrupted Baphomet for their own use and marketing purposes.

For example, Anton Szandor LaVey’s Church of Satan adopted the symbol in 1966. The Church of Satan’s current High Priest, Peter H. Gilmore even claims it was his organization that made the “Sigil of Baphomet” to be associated with Satanism and popular among Satanists.

In researching Eliphas Levi’s books, it appears that his main objective was to bring back what he called the “traditional and original Christian religion”, which he associated with the Ancient Gnostics and the Knight Templar who he said were the official “torchbearers” of this secret Gnosis. It is important that you understand this history because among the Freemasons, Templars, and other occultists,  Baphomet was not associated with Satanism until our modern era.

How did this happen?

You will find that a common theme in Satanism is to sometimes alter or corrupt Christian symbols and other art and create what they for example Peter Gilmore of the Church of Satan says in his own words, “blasphemous parodies.” For example, the upside down cross and also the original pentagram on Baphomet’s head by Levi they invert to create what is called the “inverted pentagram,” which “changes its original meaning.”

Here is a quote from Peter H. Gilmore on the Church of Satan on their own website stating these facts:

“Examine the literature and imagery predating the founding of the Church of Satan in 1966: Satanism is usually denoted by inverted crosses or crucifixes and blasphemous parodies of Christian art. There are also images of goats and devils, and demons—along with their sigils from grimoires—all used to represent the “satanic.” However, the complete graphic which we now call the “Sigil of Baphomet” only became associated as the foremost symbol of Satanism in the public and media consciousness after the founding of the Church of Satan and Dr. LaVey’s use of it.

From its inception, the Church of Satan has been constantly spotlighted in print, film, and television media all over the globe, so this was to be expected. The word “Baphomet” dates back to records of Templar trials, and there are ongoing discussions concerning its derivation and meaning. However, there is no clear evidence that the symbol which we in the Church of Satan call “Baphomet” is similarly derived; the evidence, if any, has not yet been released in any public forum.”

Then you have other organizations like the Satanic Temple who not only use the Satanic version of Baphomet for their own marketing purposes, they create statues and controversy all around the world with their devilish antics. Further muddying the truth and cementing in people’s minds that the symbol of Baphomet is purely Satanic.

As I have explained and from Eliphas Levi’s own writings, you can clearly see that his intentions were not to represent Baphomet with the Devil or Satanism.

It was simply a drawing representing human nature, balance, and equilibrium of the astral light.

He believed that it was by the manipulation of this fluidic essence, that the phenomena of transcendental magic were produced, which were the secrets of magnetism.

This was the supreme arcanum of human existence.

To master it was to become a co-creator with God.

For Eliphas Levi, Baphomet is the iconic representation of the “true religion”, which were the revolutionary doctrines of Gnosis going back to the “Gnostics.” A time where he believed there was a battle between the “true” and “false” religion in which the false doctrines had usurped the true doctrines of the Gnostics.

Levi wrote in “The Kabbalistic Origins of Christianity” that the Kabbalah was the core doctrine of real Christianity, which contained the true teachings of the “universal tradition” that opposed the corrupted doctrine of the established Churches.

During the time of Saint Paul, there was a schism among the Gnostics between the traditional religion and the new initiated by St. Paul’s burning of the books of Hermes and Pythagoras. For Levi, this was needed in order to forge a new synthesis “in the name of the original and traditional dogma against the despotic and ignorant interpretations of the degenerated priesthood.”

By doing so, Paul walked in the steps of the “pacifistic revolutionary” Jesus Christ, who he believed to be a successor to Osiris, Orpheus, Moses “and all great men of enlightenment.”

This traditional religion and honoring the chain of wise initiates was broken when the philosophical battle took place between Paul and John. Lévi sided with the teaching of Saint John who he said was initiated by Jesus and wrote his Apocalypse in the “hieroglyphic language” handed down to him.

A meaning which was lost by “the official Roman Church.”

This paved the way for “Catholic absolutism” with the followers of the Church being misled to attack the Gnostics: “From the burning of books they came to the burning of their authors.”

Meanwhile, Levi said that true Christianity, the original Gnosis of the Ancients was preserved by various secret sects such as the Templars and Freemasons.

He believed that the ultimate goal of preserving these teachings was for “the realization of the divine ideal in humanity.”

For Levi, he was a warrior for God whose sole task was to bring Light to the only true Tradition with the ultimate goal of establishing a perfect social order ruled by the wise.

The All-Seeing Eye: The Grand Architect of the Universe (T.G.A.O.T.U.)

The All-Seeing Eye: The Grand Architect of the Universe (T.G.A.O.T.U.)

The Grand Master proclaims, ” We come to complete the work and to consecrate it to the glory of the Grand Architect of the Universe, to truth, to virtue, and to light the fire of Freemasonry.”

Perhaps no other philosophical concept and symbol is more important in the history of Freemasonry than the Grand Architect of the Universe (initials T.G.A.O.T.U.), which is also sometimes referred to as the Great Architect of the Universe, The Sovereign Grand Architect of the Universe, or the All-Seeing Eye of God. The term itself has been used by Freemasons since at least 1723.

The name “Great Architect” comes from Greek words meaning “Great Artificer” or “Great Workman”; both terms refer to God’s creative powers and abilities to create anything out of nothing at all (Genesis 1:2). This idea seems very similar to what Albert Pike (1809-1891) said about God: “God is uncreated; all else is created.”

Pike claims that T.G.A.O.T.U. is invisible. He wrote,  “The point is invisible as the grand architect of the universe of Freemasonry is invisible. But by singular substitution we have assembled to represent a visible sign of this invisible grace.”

In Freemasonry, there is a requirement that a Mason must believe in God, and the Grand Architect of the Universe would represent this deity.

To Freemasons, T.G.A.O.T.U. is associated with light, fire, divinity, the divine wisdom of God, and sacred geometry, which is found symbolized in Lodges as the letter G, the Blazing Star (upright pentagram) or a single eye often enclosed within a triangle with rays of light emanating from it.

God is always associated with creation, light, truth and divine wisdom.

The Masonic philosophy is based on enlightened rationalism (beliefs based on reason rather than faith) and emphasizes goodness, charity, and brotherhood among people regardless of race, creed, or religion). Each Mason has his own unique function or purpose in life and must seek spiritual enlightenment through self-realization and self-development so that he may become a better person who contributes something meaningful to society at large.

The phrase “Grand Architect” appears in Masonic rituals in various forms, such as “Grand Geometrician of the Universe” (or some variant thereof), “Great Geometrician” and “Great Architect” (or some variant thereof). The word “Geometry” here refers to “sacred geometry”, which is a system of measuring and constructing the world and cosmos that was first developed by the Ancient Egyptians and Greeks but has been used by many cultures throughout history.

Thomas McKay wrote:

“We know, for instance, from the recent researches of the archaeologists, that in all the documents of the ancient Egyptians, written in the demotic or common character of the country, the names of the gods were invariably denoted by symbols; and I have already alluded to the different modes by which the Jews expressed the tetragrammaton.

A similar practice prevailed among the other nations of antiquity. Freemasonry has adopted the same expedient, and the Grand Architect of the Universe, whom it is the usage, even in ordinary writing, to designate by the initials G.A.O.T.U., is accordingly presented to us in a variety of symbols, three of which particularly require attention.

These are the letter G, the equilateral triangle, and the All-Seeing Eye.”

33rd Degree Freemason and author Manly P. Hall said it was an expression of a hidden reality. Hall wrote:

Freemasons have for centuries held the conception of the Universe as the material expression of a hidden reality, an invisible blueprint set down by the hand of the Grand Architect of the Universe [in his Spiritual, Moral and Masonic Trestle Board].

Hall also wrote:

“Let him never forget that the Master is near.  Day and night let him feet the presence of the Supreme or Overshadowing One. The All-Seeing Eye is upon him. Day and night this great Orb measures his depths, seeing into his innermost soul of souls.”

Pike wrote in Morals and Dogma;

The great duties that are inculcated by the lessons taught by the working-instruments of a Grand Master Architect, demanding so much of us, and taking for granted the capacity to perform them faithfully and fully, bring us at once to reflect upon the dignity of human nature, and the vast powers and capacities of the human soul; and to that theme we invite your attention in this Degree.

Let us begin to rise from earth toward the Stars.

Evermore the human soul struggles toward the light, toward God, and the Infinite. It is especially so in its afflictions. Words go but a little way into the depths of sorrow. The thoughts that writhe there in silence, that go into the stillness of Infinitude and Eternity, have no emblems.

Thoughts enough come there, such as no tongue ever uttered. They do not so much want human sympathy, as higher help. There is a loneliness in deep sorrow which the Deity alone can relieve. Alone, the mind wrestles with the great problem of calamity, and seeks the solution from the Infinite Providence of Heaven, and thus is led directly to God.”(Morals and Dogma Chapter 12)

HISTORY OF THE GRAND ARCHITECT

The concept of God, symbolized as an eye and being the creator or grand architect of the world, goes back thousands of years to Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Phoenicia. The Egyptians had the Eye of Ra and Horus for thousands of years.

The Greek concept of the Grand Architect was Plato’s Demiurge (Gk., dēmiourgos, ‘craftsman’) who formed and molded the visible world. In Christianity, we have God and the LORD with the Eye of Providence dating back well over 1,200 years ago.

Many of us know the Eye of Providence from the back of our U.S. currency on the dollar bill showing an eye enclosed in a triangle and surrounded by rays of light. It was placed there by Masons to represent the eye of God, who watches over humanity, guiding us by the principles of divine providence.

It should be no surprise to some of us that many Masonic and Christain symbols adorn such important items as our currency, since many of our nation’s founders were Freemasons, including George Washington, Ben Franklin, Paul Revere, Joseph Warren, and John Hancock.

A Novus Ordo Seclorum – “A new order of the ages (is born).”

The original Great Seal of the United States of America was said to have been designed in 1782 by Charles Thomson, who, in collaboration with lawyer and artist William Barton, had originated the idea of a pyramid and Eye of Providence and other elements.

The “Eye of Providence” below is from the George Washington Masonic Memorial.

THE ANCIENT GREEK CONCEPT OF T.G.A.O.T.U. AS THE DEMIURGE

The Ancient Greek scientific concept of The Grand Architect of the Universe can be found in Plato’s Timaeus as the Demiurge, from the Greek dēmiourgos, which means craftsman. He uses the term dēmiourgos to refer both to an artisan and to an original arranger of the world.

In the opening speech, Timaeus (Timaeus 27d5-29b1) claims that the cosmos must be the product of what he calls the Demiurge, creating an eternal paradigm. Plato wrote, “To find the maker and father of this universe is a difficult task, and even once found, it’s impossible to declare him to all” (Timaeus 28c3–5).

Plato explains that it is impossible for something to come into being from nothing (27e2-28a4). The first premise is that here must be some source for motion for the universe as a whole, which is unchanging and indestructible. Plato says that an efficient cause is one that acts without being acted upon.

Meaning, the Demiurge does not receive its motion from something else. Instead, it is the first source of all motion in the universe as a whole. Timaeus states that this source must be an efficient cause (Timaeus 27d).

The Demiurge fashioned the world, people and the cosmos out of preexisting chaos which the Demiurge organized into the four elements — Earth, Water, Air and Fire. These formed the “body” of the cosmos, which was also endowed with a “soul”. The soul of the cosmos, which Plato considered as its better or more important part, was its principle of eternal and recurring circular motion, causing the circular motion of the planets, sun, moon, and stars.

Plato’s student, Aristotle added the fifth Platonoic element, aether as the prima matter of the heavenly bodies. He claimed that crystalline spheres were made of a fire like substance that was always moving, called aether. A substance that also filled the space between the celestial bodies.

According to Aristotle’s theories of motion, he believed that ether was a fire like substance that was always moving in a circular motion. But the other four elements tended to move in straight lines. The earth moved downward; fire moved upward, while water and air fell in between.

I believe that Plato’s philosophical explanation of the Demiurge and Aristotle’s aether are the closest scientific explanations of The Grand Architect of the Universe that have been posited to date. In a future essay, I will go into more detail on the Greek concept of the Demiurge and how it can be connected to modern science.

THE CHRISTIAN GRAND ARCHITECT OF THE UNIVERSE

In Christianity, the symbol of the eye of God may be found in the Book of Proverbs, which introduces the idea that “The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge (Gnosis).”

The first known use of the symbol is in the Palatine Chapel, Aachen Cathedral, which was built by Charlemagne in 786. It was a fairly common symbol throughout the middle ages and well into the Enlightenment period.

Thomas Aquinas said in the Summa: “God, Who is the first principle of all things, may be compared to things created “as the architect is to things designed” (ut artifex ad artificiata).”

John Calvin (1509-1564) was a French reformer of the Church who calls the Christian God “the Architect of the Universe”, also referring to his works as “Architecture of the Universe”, and in his commentary on Psalm 19 refers to the Christian God as the “Great Architect” or “Architect of the Universe”. (Institutes of the Christian Religion – 1536)

In Scripture, God is the master or choirmaster of the heavens, and his handywork can be seen as the creator of the world. The firmament showeth his handywork. (Genesis 1:6, 20.) as the atmosphere enveloping the earth. Psalm 19 reads, “For the director of music. A psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge (Gnosis).”

THE GRAND ARCHITECT IN EGYPT AS RA

The ancient Egyptians believed that Ra was the one who created everything in their world as the father of all creation.

They believed that Ra created himself out of nothingness and then created everything else in their world by speaking it into existence. He was the patron of the heavens, light, the sun, power and royalty. He was said to govern the actions of the sun.

The Eye of Ra would be one of the earliest or the first representations of the The Grand Architect of the Universe, the Eye of Providence and All-Seeing Eye of God.

Ra was one of the oldest deities in the Egyptian pantheon and was later merged with Atum to become Atum-Ra, which means “the complete one.”  He also merged with the God Amon to become Amon-Ra At Thebes, becoming the principal god of the pantheon, the “king of the gods,” and the patron of kings.

All Egyptian Pharoahs from the 4th Dynasty on held the title “Son of Ra” (Son of God or the Grand Architect). As the Sons of Ra, they were tasked with governing their kingdoms and people as God issuing justice via rewards and punishments.

Gnostic Warrior Conclusion

The Masonic Grand Architect of the Universe symbolizes creator God and the primeval creative force in both ancient and modern religions, particularly those of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.

In the end, believing in the creator of the universe will always be a matter of faith and opinion.

It’s a fascinating subject with roots in Egyptian Mythology, Greek Philosophy, Christian theology and Freemasonry throughout history—and it’s one that every Mason should spend some time researching on his own in order to appreciate its many different facets.

But as you can see from the course of history, several ancient nations, religions, and secret societies such as Freemasonry believed in a creator God whom they honored and defied in their writings.

For the Masons, the idea of a Great Architect is dogmatic as with many other religions. It is a requirement to believe in God, and there are no acceptions.

An ancient tradition that is still followed to this day not only by Masons, but also by billions of people.

The Etheric Body

The Etheric Body

The Etheric Body is one of the various names given to what has also been called by various esoteric authors as the Astral Body, Light Body, Body of Light, Human Energy Field, or Aura, which all mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably.

The etheric body is part of the human constitution in the form of light energy or luminous fluid. It is considered the energetic template of the physical body that has the ability to act as a mediator between the soul and body and can also record and store information.

The etheric body is made of a material known as ether (aether) that comes from the heavens (cosmos or space). In a similar sense, the term astral body refers to the stars. Very similar descriptions and words such as the light body and aura have been used throughout traditional history to modernity.

This mysterious and luminous material has been described as the light or energy field of the body to be both liquid and gaseous in nature. It is not visible to the naked eye, and some people claim that it can only be seen with spiritual sight or when it interacts with physical matter in some way (i.e., through magnetism).

As I researched this subject, I found that we can use modern science to identify what exactly the etheric body is and I can provide examples of my studies. In this article, I will detail the various aspects of its history with various quotes from people who have written on the subject and also the results of my research. I also believe today that we can witness, measure and record this phenomenon with magnetic image resonance machines, which I will explain in my next article on the Science of the Etheric Body.

The first people to write about and debate what aether was were the Ancient Greeks through the writings of various philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, and Proclus. This tradition continued among many of the world’s greatest thinkers, such as Descartes, Paracelsues John Dee, Eliphas Levi, Issac Newton, Rudolph Steiner, Albert Einstein, and Nikola Tesla, who have all written and or debated about its existence.

As I explained in my previous essay, according to the Greeks, aether (Greek αἰθήρ, aithēr), also spelled ether, is the fifth element that fills the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere. It is a type of heavenly fire, light, or luminous substance that is always in motion. But they claimed that it is not to be compared to real fire, and is distinct from the other four classical elements (Platonic Solids), EarthWaterAir, and Fire.

Both Plato and Aristotle also referred to ether as “Idea” (Greek ίδέα), or ίερόν, (Greek hieron “a divine thing”) because it was thought to be heavenly, i.e. not of the material world (matter) and have the power of life. Plato, in his Timaeus, described Aether as that “which God used in the delineation of the universe.”

As it relates to the Ancient Greek concept of the human and the etheric body, I have found that pneuma, topa, and vital heat were used interchangeably by fellow Platonists in the exoteric sense by some authors, such as Aristotle and Proculus. Today, as I mentioned above, we also have the terms Astral Body, Light Body, Body of Light, Human Energy Field, or Aura, which all represent the same phenomena of the creative fire within humans and all life.

In Aristotle’s biology, pneuma is mentioned in connection with the soul and a number of bodily functions. It is compared to ether, the fifth element from which the heavenly bodies are composed. In explaining the abilities of the soul within the context of functional transmission, he describes pneuma as analogous to ether (the upper fiery-air).

Aristotle states that the hot substance or vital heat included in the semen is a “natural principle in the breath [pneuma], being analogous to the element of the stars” (i.e., the Aether). He wrote;

“Now, so far as we can see, the faculty (δύναμις) of Soul of every kind has to do with some physical substance which
is different from the so-called ‘elements’ (στοιχεȋον) and more divine than they are …….

In all cases the semen contains within itself that which causes it to be fertile (γόνιμα)—what is known as ‘hot substance’ (θερμόν), which is not fire nor any similar substance, but the pneuma which is enclosed within the semen or foam-like stuff, and the natural substance which is in the pneuma; and this substance, is analogous to the element which belongs to the stars. (De generatione animalium, Book II, Peck 1949, p. 171, II 736b30-737al)

The next authority after Aristotle to speak on this subject, but using a different word than pneuma or aether was the Neoplatonist Proclus of Athens (412–485 C.E.). He was the most authoritative philosopher of his time and is said to have been the first person to speak of place (topos) as the intermediary between the soul and body, or what is also known as the “etheric body.”

Proclus had a theory that place (topos) was a three-dimensional extension, and it was a luminous body (soma). He believed that this place had life (empsukhos), which moved other bodies. Proclus said there were subtle “planes”, and these planes had two bodies or “carriers” (okhema) intermediate between the rational soul and the physical body. He claimed that topos as the medium between soul and body, and identified it with the luminous “vehicle” of the soul.

One of the last Neo-Platonists, Simplicius of Cilicia, tells us that Proclus’ hypothesis was novel and unique.

The Greek Stoics had called the divine creative fire by the names pneuma or aether. They believed that the cosmos was ruled by a divine mind (nous) and permeated by pneuma, an aether composed of fire and air.

Chrysippos took the lead in ascribing the generality of natural phenomena to tensions in the pneuma, an aether-like blending of air and fire that he held to pervade the cosmos.

The Greek term pneuma was later used in religious contexts and was associated with the spirit and the divine.

This opposition of theories led to many Greek philosophers to examine and comment upon the subject.

In the 17th century, René Descartes (1596-1650) said ether was the medium of space in Principia philosophiae (1644). His theory was in a similar line with the Anceint Greeks concept of ether as the 5th element that made up the World Soul or what is also called the Noosphere today.

Descartes’ was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist and is best known for his philosophical writings, which include several essays on optics, the philosophy of mathematics, and metaphysics.

He claimed that ether was the elements of vortices that transmitted forces between bodies at a distance, were also transmitted by direct contact. When two bodies were not touching each other, such as two magnets, or the moon’s influence upon the tides, he believed they were still in direct contact through intermediate contiguous matter I ether.

Descartes said that force is transmitted through ether by two agencies, pressure and impact. He believed that space was occupied by ether. Although it was imperceptible to the senses, it was capable of transmitting forces on the material bodies immersed in it.

Descartes said the ether particles are in constant spinning motions of closed chains of particles (vortices). He believed that matter is made up of extremely small particles called “corpuscles” and that these corpuscles are attracted to each other by ether.

The difference between Descartes’ theory and modern theories is that he believed that this attraction occurs because of the motion and rotation of matter, not because mass attracts mass.

Descartes also developed three laws of motion:

The law of inertia – objects at rest tend to stay at rest, and objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

The law of action-and-reaction – every force has an equal counter-force, so if one body exerts a force on another body, then that body exerts a force back on the first body equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.

The third law – if one body exerts twice as much force on another body than it experiences from that

Descartes’ theory was never accepted by his contemporaries, who adhered to Newton’s theories of action at a distance. Descartes’ theory remained forgotten until James Clerk Maxwell rediscovered it in 1864, which I will discuss below.

Isaac Newton (1642 – 1727) dedicated much of his career to analyzing and developing further the ether theory. He called ether an elastic medium that carried vibrations and had pervaded the pores of all material bodies. Newton wrote:

All space is permeated by an elastic medium or aether, which is capable of propagating vibrations. This aether pervades the pores of all material bodies and is the cause of their cohesion; its density varies from one body to another, being greatest in the free interplanetary spaces.

One of Isaac Newton’s major theories was that ether played a major role in gravity and light in the Third Book of Opticks (1st ed. 1704; 2nd ed.) He described it as the medium that “flows” continually downward toward the Earth’s surface and is partially absorbed and partially diffused as an elastic, invisible, strong, and subtle matter that existed everywhere in different forms.

In the 19th century, James Clerk Maxwell showed that electricity and magnetism were related phenomena. He proposed that light waves were electric and magnetic waves traveling through an electromagnetic field called ether. This led to theories about a luminiferous (light-bearing) ether, which became popular during this period.

Maxwell developed a mathematical theory of electromagnetic waves that propagated through the luminiferous ether, which permeates all space. He had used ether to explain electric and magnetic phenomena, now called Maxwell’s equations, for the understanding that light is an electromagnetic wave.

Maxwell (1878) wrote:

“Aethers were invented for the planets to swim in, to constitute electric atmospheres and magnetic effluvia, to convey sensations from one part of our bodies to another, and so on, until all space had been filled three or four times over with aethers. The only aether which has survived is that which was invented by Huygens to explain the propagation of light.”

Rudolph Steiner (1861-1935) considered the etheric body as distinct from the physical material reality, being intermediate between the physical world and the astral world. He believed that it was formed as a result of thinking and contained a person’s thoughts.

Steiner said:

“Only if I could perceive how the percept of an object affects the percept of the subject, or–conversely–only if I could observe the construction of a perceptual form by the subject, would it be possible to speak like modern physiology and the critical idealism built upon it…The link between the subjective and the objective is not built…by any perceptible event. It is built by thinking alone.”

For Steiner, it was also part of the earth’s biofield and all  living things—plants, animals, and humans. Without the etheric body, one only has left a dead physical body whose structure and organization are now subject only to entropic forces and decay. He often referred to the etheric body (Ätherleib or “Life Body”) in association with the etheric formative forces and the evolution of man and the cosmos.

According to Steiner;

“Memory is a subconscious reading activity. In memory remain the signs which the etheric body engraved upon the physical body. You may have lived through something years ago and gathered from it the necessary experience; what remains behind is the impression which the etheric body engraved upon the physical body, and when you remember this past experience your memory process is a subconscious act of reading.”

It is an energy field composed of millions of tiny particles called etheric cells that are constantly interacting with each other to create all the different structures and functions of the body. Each etheric cell contains information about how to build certain parts of the body, such as muscles, bones and organs.

The etheric cells are organized into groups called chakras that are responsible for different aspects of our health and well-being, such as digestion or sexual function. Each chakra has a specific purpose and role within our bodies, which is why we feel pain or discomfort when they aren’t functioning properly or if they become blocked by negative emotions or thoughts.

Its color varies from individual to individual, but ranges from bright white to deep purple depending on your state of being.  When you’re healthy, your etheric body can be seen as an aura surrounding your physical form has a vibrant, colorful aura that reflects its energetic functioning.

According to Steiner, the etheric field can be perceived by a person gifted with clairvoyance as being of “peach-blossom color”.

If it’s damaged or unhealthy, it may appear dull, cloudy, gray or blackened in appearance due to disease or trauma.

Russian Esotericist, Madame Blavatsky

The etheric plane (see also Etheric body) is a term introduced into Theosophy by Charles Webster Leadbeater and Annie Besant to represent one of the planes

According to Max Heindel, the Grand Master of the American Rosicrucuans (AMORC), the etheric body, composed of four ethers, is called the “Vital Body” since the ether is the way of ingress for vital force from the Sun and the field of agencies in nature which promote such vital activities as assimilation, growth, and propagation.

It is an exact counterpart of our physical body, molecule for molecule, and organ for organ, but it is of the opposite polarity. It is slightly larger, extending about one and one-half inches beyond the periphery of the physical body.

It is a template that holds the knowledge (gnosis), information, and our memories, that allows the physical body to function and exist in the world, i.e., this dimension. It has been described as a “blueprint” for the physical body, and contains all the anatomical designs on a cellular level.

Freemason and author, Manly P. Hall calls ether the sacred 5th element, and says it represents the brain. Hall wrote;

“As man’s physical body has five distinct and important extremities–two legs, two arms, and a head, of which the last governs the first four–the number 5 has been accepted as the symbol of man.

By its four corners the pyramid symbolizes the arms and legs, and by its apex the head, thus indicating that one rational power controls four irrational corners.

The hands and feet are used to represent the four elements, of which the two feet are earth and water, and the two hands fire and air.

The brain then symbolizes the sacred fifth element–æther–which controls and unites the other four. If the feet are placed together and the arms outspread, man then symbolizes the cross with the rational intellect as the head or upper limb.”

The Georgia Guidestones: What the 10 guidelines say and the plan for depopulation

The Georgia Guidestones are a set of six tall granite monuments that contain the new ten “new commandments” for humanity and the world. They are also known as “America’s Stonehenge or “America’s Jerusalem.”

The massive stones are located at the top of a hill on the north-western brow of the Elberton Granite Finishing Company, about 5 miles (8.0 km) northeast of Elberton, Georgia, United States. It sits on private property, but they still allow visitors.

They were erected in March 1980 and inscribed with ten guidelines for an “Age of Reason” or “New Age” that would be ushered in at the end of the current “Age of Pisces”. The monument is about 20 feet tall, and was built to give people instructions on how to rebuild civilization from scratch if it were destroyed in the future.

The commandments inscribed on the structure are in eight modern languages: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.

The first of the 10 guidelines reads: “Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.”

Some people think that’s too high; others think it’s too low. While others think it is part of a sinister conspiracy written in stone by a secret global elite cabal who are planning openly to exterminate billions of people to bring about a New World Order.

Today, over 40 years since it was built, it still attracts the attention of the media and curious researchers, who are often labeled conspiracy theorists.

One of the monuments leading underground experts,  Van Smith says that they people behind it are for establishing the beginnings of a totalitarian tribal government.  Alex Jones of InfoWars.com says that the stones call for the mass culling of humans.

The Geogia Guidestone 10 Guidelines Read:

1) Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

2) Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.

3) Unite humanity with a living new language.

4) Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.

5) Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

6) Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

7) Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

8) Balance personal rights with social duties.

9) Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.

10) Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature

The Georgia Guidestones were created by a man and group who remains shrouded in mystery and intrigue.

The only name we know for the author is R.C. Christian, which is said to be a pseudonym. The group who commissioned the monument called themselves, “A small group of Americans who seek the Age of Reason” and a banker who made the deal named Wyatt Martin.

R.C. Christian has never been identified publicly, but some people claim that he is associated with various organizations that promote population control and eugenics (the practice of selective breeding to improve the genetic quality of the human population).

Since the monument was built, several articles and books have mentioned or have been written about the Georgia Guidestones.

In 2010, a CNN article claimed;

“The identity of the man who called himself “R.C. Christian” is a secret that Wyatt Martin, the banker who acted as his agent in Elberton, vows to take to his grave.

“He told me, ‘If you were to tell who put the money up for this, it wouldn’t be a mystery any more, and no one would come and read it.’ That had to be part of the attraction, to get people to come and read his 10 rules that he came up with,” Martin said.

Discover Magazine reported in 2013;

“According to the also deceased Joe Fendley, then president of the Elberton Granite Finishing Company, Mr. Christian was a tall, well-dressed stranger who showed up in his office on a Friday afternoon and offered to pay a substantial sum of money for the construction of the monument. Fendley sent him over to Wyatt C. Martin, then president of the Granite City Bank.

Within a few weeks, Christian had wired money to the bank and brought in a wooden model of the monument, and the quarrying and construction had begun. Over 4,000 letters were ultimately etched into the surface of the stones. A year later, on March 22, 1980, the Guidestones were unveiled — on a former cow pasture on U.S. Highway 77.”

The structure is composed of six granite slabs, ranging from 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3.0 m) tall and weighing up to 80 tons, each, set on end and leaning slightly inward toward the center.

They were installed with their southern faces inscribed with text arranged in an approximate circle 20 feet (6 m) in diameter.

The four outer stones each have one smooth face and one inscribed face; they are aligned so that the smooth faces form an equilateral cross when viewed from above by plane or satellite photography; this alignment has been noted by many observers over the years since construction was completed in 1980.

The inner two stones have only inscribed faces; they are set at an angle such that when viewed from above by plane or satellite.

In 2008, graffiti was painted on the stones with slogans such as “Death to the new world order”.

Again in September 2014, the stones were vandalized with paint stating, “I Am Isis, goddess of love”.

The motivation and meaning behind the Georgia Guidestones is somewhat difficult to discern as it was left intentionally mysterious by the person or group that commissioned it.

The messages are not cryptic or hidden, but in your face and apocalyptic, to say the least.

Their end goal is to change the way that we live our lives and treat this planet or home, Earth.

The only way that is going to happen, according to the people hiding behind its construction, is with 7.5 billion less of us.

It was Plato (428 – 348 BC) who first said the world was built from triangles. In his book Timaeus, he states that there are four elements that make everything, but these elements are in turn made up of triangles.

Plato wrote;

“In accordance with the requirements for the construction of the body of the universe, the Craftsman begins by fashioning each of the four kinds “to be as perfect and excellent as possible…”

Speaking on the four elements, Plato stated, “the most excellent four bodies that can come into being” (53e). He believed that the elements were all made of triangles and constructed in such a way as to explain how the transmutation of elements was possible.”

All matter, which would be the earth, air, fire, and water is made up of particles (“primary bodies”) composed of elementary right triangles making the geometrical solids: a tetrahedron cube, octahedron and icosahedron.

Fire would be represented by the Tetrahedron (4-sided solid) and Air by the Octahedron (8-sided solid). The Icosahedron (20-sided solid) would represent water and earth by the cube (6-sided solid).

But what did he mean when he made these claims over 2,300 years ago?

To understand what Plato had meant, we need to look back to around the time he lived and what problems and knowledge base the Ancient Greek philosophers were most concerned with.

When we do so, we find that one of their main branches of the study was metaphysics, which is a science that deals with the first principles (elements) or the hidden causes of things in our world to help define reality and our understanding of it. Metaphysical studies generally include concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space.

Two of Platos’ greatest contributions to metaphysics were his development of the Platonic Solids, which he maintained were the basis for the whole universe and his theory of abstract and eternal Forms (see Plato’s metaphysics and epistemology).

His other was the Platonic Triad of higher Forms, which is often presented as Truth, Beauty, and Goodness, or Good and also the number One, the Intellect, and Soul. In his dialog with Philebus, Plato presents this triad also as Beauty, Truth, and Measure (metriotes) or Symmetry (symmetria).

In this article I will attempt to show that Plato’s ontological ideas of these Higher Forms and how the world was truly built from triangles can be proven by contemporary science and mathematics.

In these two concepts, I believe we can find the hidden element of first cause to show how the world is truly made of triangles.

As I explained in my previous article, The Symbology and History of the Triangle △, perhaps no other ancient symbol in the world is more important and has been considered to be sacred from its earliest associations with mathematics, philosophy, and religion.

Since time immemorial, it has been used to represent deity and the active principle in the form of fire that pervades all nature and life as we know it.

When I read about the history of the triangle and its importance to ancient philosophers such as Pythagoras and Plato, it makes me want to further research these concepts. This search I believe, has led me to evidence that shows how the world is built of triangles and why this geometrical shape is the most revered of all in almost every nation and religion on earth.

At its core, geometry is the form of all forms, i.e., physical reality.

All things that manifest in the physical realm are composed of shapes, angles, and points. Through geometrical relationships between these manifestations, they communicate and connect to each other on a deeper metaphysical level.

A type of unseen fabric or transparent web that is woven into the universe that connects all things.

Plato’s Fire

The Light, Active Principle, Deity, and God

As I kept up my research, the question about why did our ancestors believe that the triangle represents deity or God, the light and active principle in nature, was still at the top of my mind.

In my search to identify this light and define how the world was built from triangles, I discovered phosphorus to be the main active principle, or light within this unseen fabric that I theorize connects all things and forms via Plato’s World of Ideas or the Noosphere.

What Christians would call heaven and the Freemasons call the active principle in nature, the light and our ancestors had used to represent deity and God.

It is the element known as phosphorus that naturally forms triangles, and I believe this represents the “fire (tetrahedron)” Plato was speaking of.

After all, the word phosphorus is derived from the Greek ‘phosphoros’, meaning bringer of light.

I believe that Plato’s Triad or Higher Forms which equate to Beauty, Truth, Symmetry, the One, the Soul and the Good can all be proven by modern science to be phosphorus and its alchemical derivatives.

For example, we now know that any three phosphorus atoms form an equilateral triangle (one face of the tetrahedron).

In the diagram below, we see the structure of the various allotropes of phosphorus, which show its tetrahedral shape.

(A) Side view of BP (B) Side view of blue phosphorus (C) Gaseous form of phosphorus (named diphosphorus-P 2 ). (D) Unit cell of white phosphorus (P 4 ). (E) Side view of violet phosphorus. (F) Side view of red phosphorus.

If you study phosphorus, you will find that it interacts and binds with air, water and carbon, which I theorize creates more triangles that lead to forming new shapes or Platonic solids.

For example, when phosphorus reacts with oxygen, it forms phosphate. This is how it is formed in the human body via its tetrahedronal structure, which I believe we can call “Plato’s Fire.”

There exist in these atoms and particles what is called the Van Der Waals forces of attraction . As it relates to the Platonic solids, we  know that fire (phosphorus) is made of tetrahedrons and that the earth is composed of cubes. A particle of air (oxygen) is an octahedron and a particle of water is an icosahedron.

The tetrahedron has 3 triangles connecting at each vertex, resulting in 4 total triangles, while the octahedron has 4 triangles connecting at each vertex (8 total triangles), and the icosahedron has 5 triangles connecting at each vertex (20 total triangles).

PLATO’S ONE, THE INTELLECT, AND THE SOUL

How the human body and DNA are made of triangles

Next to calcium, phosphorus is the most abundant mineral in the body. It is a main component of bones, teeth, the brain, semen, DNA, and RNA.

It also helps your nerves and muscles do their jobs.  In the form of phospholipids, phosphorus is a component of cell membrane structure and of the body’s key energy source, adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Many proteins and sugars in the body are phosphorylated.

According to Oregon State University:

“All energy production and storage are dependent on phosphorylated compounds, such as adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphateNucleic acids (DNA and RNA), which are responsible for the storage and transmission of genetic information, are long chains of phosphate-containing molecules. A number of enzymeshormones, and cell-signaling molecules depend on phosphorylation for their activation.”

Hence, phosphorus is not only the gasoline or energy that enlivens and enlightens humans; i.e. the active principle in nature, it is also part of our genetic code and the code of God (deity) that acts as an information storage device.

The immortal fire and master programmer in the form of metaphysical triangles that fuels and programs humanity then, now and into the future.

Let me explain…

Phosphorus is essential to the growth of living organisms and usually appears in the form of phosphate.

Phosphorus is also an important structural element in DNA and RNA, which both have a sugar-phosphate backbone (PO4) that works as a kind of “super glue.”

Here is an image of PO4’s tetrahedral structure.

DNA consists of two strands that wind around each other like a twisted ladder. Each strand has a backbone made of alternating sugar (deoxyribose) and phosphate groups, which provide structural support to the molecule.

The U.S. National Genome Research Institute

“Phosphate backbones link the chemical building blocks of DNA, the nucleotides, together in a very, very stable way, and so that it is very difficult to break those bonds and takes specific enzymes to do it.

The other remarkable thing about phosphate backbones is the energy for producing the DNA polymer comes from the phosphate itself. So when DNA is synthesized, there is an ATP, an energy molecule, that’s part of the phosphate backbone that is used to link the DNA together.”

Bound to oxygen in all biological systems, including humans, phosphorus is found as phosphate (PO43-). Phosphate is an electrically charged particle that contains the mineral phosphorus. It is also called Phosphate ion or Orthophosphate.

When you study the structure of phosphate (PO43-), you will find that it has the shape of a tetrahedron (plural: tetrahedra or tetrahedrons), also known as a triangular pyramid.

This triangular phosphate makes up the backbone of our DNA.

As you can see, once these phosphate bonds are created, they are difficult to break and this becomes the backbone of our energy production and is also used to link DNA together.

This may be the reason why people who are of the same and or similar DNA, i.e. family and Tribes (DNA Haplogroups) tend to associate and bond with one another better than people of differing DNA.

It is my belief that all forms are connected both physically and metaphysically, and ideas through history form permanent bonds to the past, present, and future.

Through phosphorus and our DNA, the triangle of life and the world.

Hence, our DNA, which holds our genetic history and also our genetic traits, is a type of natural and ancient computer hard drive and program that became our operating systems.

That now brings us to the place of enlightenment.

THE HUMAN BRAIN

As it relates to Plato’s World of Ideas or the Noosphere, we can now theorize that phosphorus in our brains may play an important role in helping to realize this sphere of human ideas.

For example, physicist Roger Penrose, of the University of Oxford, and anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff, of the University of Arizona have claimed that the brain acts as a quantum computer.

Penorse claimed that protein structures called “microtubules” played a role in human consciousness by exploiting quantum effects.

Over the past several decades, scientists using quantum physics have found that information can be stored on the quantum spin of a single phosphorus electron, and with this technology, they are building quantum computers.

It is known as the Kane quantum computer that was invented by Bruce Kane in 1998. It is a scalable quantum computer based on an array of individual phosphorus donor atoms embedded in a pure silicon lattice.

Scientists have been using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and MRS imaging (MRSI) to observe quantum properties of phosphorus nuclear spins in the brain.

In a study titled, Quantum Cognition: The possibility of processing with nuclear spins in the brain, by Matthew Fisher from University of California at Santa Barbara, he found that phosphorus in the form of calcium phosphate clusters with chemical formula Ca9(PO4)6 is the unique biological element with a nuclear spin that can serve as a quantum processor, memory storage device and the phosphate ion is the only possible qubit-transporter.

Fishers identified the “Posner molecule”, Ca9(PO4)6, as the unique molecule that can protect the neural qubits on very long times and thereby serve as a (working) quantum-memory. A central requirement for quantum-processing is quantum entanglement.

Fisher’s notion of quantum processing in the brain broadly fits into this emerging field of quantum biology. Call it quantum neuroscience. He has developed a complicated hypotheses, incorporating nuclear and quantum physics, organic chemistry, neuroscience and biology.

Based on this information, I believe our brains emit or spin these phosphoric electrons and ions that charge the atmosphere with information around us and the world creating the World of Ideas or the Noosphere.

A physical thinking layer of light.

This concept can also be used to explain why in Christian art, a halo or layer of light would often be seen around a Saint or Jesus and to also explain the concept of the astral body or etheric body.

What Christians call being Baptized by the Heavenly Fire that is also known as the Light, Holy Fire, and Holy Spirit.

To become illuminated or enlightened.

A WORLD BORN AND BUILT WITH PHOSPHORUS TRIANGLES

After all, phosphorus has been identified as the main ingredient for the first life on Earth, which some scientists speculate was seeded by meteorites or lightening strikes.

Research has proven that phosphorus is not just part of our DNA and the food we eat, it is a triangular element that can be found in the air through lightening and in space via comets.

Comets are thought to be pristine relics from the solar system’s past. Rosetta had already detected phosphorus as well as the simplest amino acid glycine in the atmosphere of a comet.

In 2020, researchers discovered for the first time, phosphorus in a cloud of gas and dust surrounding a newborn star.

Science news had reported;

“Astronomers spotted a bright infant star shooting powerful jets of energy that created cavities in the gas and dust cocoon from which it formed. Different types of molecules in the cloud, including two simple phosphorus-bearing ones — phosphorus monoxide and phosphorus mononitride — were detected along the cavities’ walls, researchers report in the February Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Ultraviolet radiation from the newborn star helped form these molecules, the team suspects.”

In 1986, researchers found lightning can create schreibersite and may have been the source of phosphorus for early life. Schreibersite is generally a rare iron nickel phosphide mineral, (Fe,Ni)3P, though common in iron-nickel meteorites.

A phosphide is any of a class of chemical compounds in which phosphorus is combined with a metal.

Now, let me introduce you to black phosphorus (BP), also known as phosphorene, which has attracted recent scientific attention due to its unique triangular structure and properties. It has been shown to have exceptional optical, magnetic, mechanical properties, electrical conductivity and electron-transfer capacity.

Recent studies have shown that black phosphorus is made of triangles. Here are two images from a 2017 study showing the microscopic triangle as being the building blocks of black phosphorus.

Black phosphorus is the most stable allotrope of all phosphorus types. It has a layered structure that comes in two forms – alpha black phosphorus and beta black phosphorus.

What I found that was very interesting was how beta black phosphorus can conduct electricity while alpha black phosphorus doesn’t conduct electricity.

HOW THE MODERN WORLD WAS BUILT WITH TRIANGLES

Today, we can all witness triangles everywhere with our interconnected world of buildings, cities and the internet (world wide web) where we can connect with one another all around the globe as we share knowledge (gnosis) and store information like never before.

A feat that could have never been accomplished without humans, geometry, and triangles.

We find the properties of triangles help create the design and function of all electronics, which includes the generation and transmission of the electrical energy that powers them. Our TV, videos, and the virtual world in which we live part of our lives online are also composed of triangles.

They can be found in the compression algorithms of the trillions of images via JPEG and MPEG files and the CGI characters we see in film and on TV that permeate our inter-connected world wide web today.

All made with an incredibly fine mesh of triangles, as this makes it easier to digitally compress, store and manipulate data (Maglo et al., 2012) , while preserving relevant surface characteristics. Such data reduction improves storage requirements, transmission capacities, and rendering performance.

Surface approximation uses triangular meshes to generate, process, analyze, and visualize a large amount of 3D data, which plays an an important role in several application fields, such as computer-aided design, computer graphics, remote sensing, computer vision, robotics, architecture, and manufacturing.

What fascinates me about the triangle as it relates to modern technology and computers is that the human mind has also been compared to a quantum computer.

My theory is that as technology uses triangles to function, compute, sense, store data, and transfer data, so do humans.

CONCLUSION

With that said, Plato’s Fire as it relates to knowledge, the World of Ideas, technology, and the Noosphere are made of what I believe to be “phophorus triangles (tetrahedrons).”

The elements of nature, the cosmos and humans contain phosphorus triangles that are the building “bricks” and “super glue” that holds reality together.

And why the ancient symbol of the triangle has been used for deity, God, and the active principle of fire in all nature, humans, and the universe for many cultures.
