The Gnostic Goddess Ariadne was the daughter of the famous Law Giver and King of Crete, Minos and her Grandfather was the God Zeus. She was also known by the names of Gnosis, Gnosias, and CreUSA (U.S.A.) which all signify her hometown of Knossos, AKA the City of Gnosis on the ancient Holy Island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea.

Ariadne was immortalized in the halls of Gnosis and Freemasonry for helping her lover, Theseus who was the mythical founder-king of Athens to conquer the Minotaur and deliver him out of the Labyrinth by the means of a Thread. For doing so, she was also known as the “Mistress of the Labyrinth“,  As noted on the Linear B inscription from Knossos, “to all the gods, honey… to the mistress of the labyrinth honey.”

According to the Greek poet, Hesiod (approx. 700 BC) and many other accounts, Theseus abandoned Ariadne sleeping on the sacred healing island of Naxos, an island 7 miles off Crete and the Knossos (city of Gnosis) that has also been known by the names of Kos (Cos or Coos), Zia, Cia, Cea, Ceos, Coo, Coos, Cous, Delos, Merope, Lemnos, Letos, Staunchio and Patmos. Today the island of Kos is simply known as Dia. A barren wasteland, that was once the fertile home to the medical priesthood of the Kohanim (Koans or Cohen) and one of the world’s best schools of medicine.

It was on this island where the God Dionysus had found and wedded her. According to Homer (Odyssey, a. 322) she was slain by Artemis (Isis) at the request of Dionysus in the island of Dia, before she could reach Athens with Theseus. In the later legend, she as abandoned, while asleep on the island of Naxos, by Theseus, who had fallen a victim to the charms of Aegle (Plutarch, Theseus, 20; Diodorus, iv. 60, 61).

To put a Masonic plot to this ancient Gnostic story, in attempting to free Thesus from the Labyrinth, Ariadne had acquired the assistance of one of the first known Freemasons in history, Daedalus. He is one of the most famous artists and builders of Crete that were the forerunners to the Grecian building communities and Roman Collegia. The very same ancient guilds which modern Freemasonry descends.

As I have written about before, Freemasonry is connected to the ancient teachings of Gnosticism. For example, one of the most famous Masonic symbols, the letter G signifies Gnosis. 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason, Albert Pike and Master Occultist, Eliphas Levi had both written that the letter ‘G’ in Freemasonry represents Gnosis, Generation and the Grand Architect.

Master Masonic Philosopher, Manly P. Hall had written in The Secret Teachings of All Ages, “The sanctum sanctorum of Freemasonry is ornamented with the gnostic jewels of a thousand ages; its rituals ring with the divinely inspired words of seers and sages.”

Daedalus is first mentioned by Homer as the creator of a statue of Ariadne at Knossos and a wide dancing-ground for Ariadne. He had said that daidala refers to finely crafted objects. His family of Masons were known as Daedalids, and the name of their craft was known as the Daedalian style of art. A man who is considered one of the founders of Western Philosophy and one of the greatest of Greek philosophers, Socrates had claimed to be a Daedalid.

Daedalus formed one of the first true lodges of Masonry on Crete known as the Cretan Daedalid School which flourished for many centuries. The Masons say he was the inventor of a number of the “Working Tools” used in the various degrees of Masonry, the plumb-line and the axe, most of the tools used in carpentry, and of glue.

For rescuing Thesus from the Labyrinth, Ariande was given the Crown that was called Gnosia Corona, and she was surnamed Gnosis, from the City of that Name in Crete. Ariande was immortalized in the heavens by being assigned a small constellation in the Northern Celestial Hemisphere of seven stars called, Corona Borealis which in classical mythology signifies the crown given by the god Dionysus to the Gnostic princess Ariadne and set by him in the heavens. Its brightest stars form a semicircular arc. Its Latin name, inspired by its shape, means “northern crown”.

In the Vatican sits a beautiful Parian marble sculpture of the Goddess Ariadne which would be a replica of the one created by the Cretan Mason, Daedalus. Today she is known as the Vatican Sleeping Ariadne, long called Cleopatra. The sculpture is a copy of a 2nd century B.C. original from the school of Pergamon and had some other replicas in Roman times. The statue of Ariadne sleeping was acquired by Pope Julius II (1503-1513) in 1512 for the Courtyard of Statues (Cortile delle Statue) where it was adapted in order to decorate a fountain. (See Vatican Link)

The statue signfies the state of consciousness when we lose our Gnosis or come under the influence of black magick. A form of Hyp-Gnosis which is a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.

She wears a bracelet on the upper part of her left arm in the form of a serpent; called by the ancients, Ophis. The word Ophis, is Greek for serpent. Below her in what appears to be Hell or Purgatory are the priests of the serpent, the Gnostic Ophites. The serpent is the symbol of health, wisdom, and Gnosis. The Serpent was venerated all over the world such as in Crete, Greece, Phoenician, Egypt and the Americas as an emblem of Divinity, an oracle, and as a god. The Sons of the Serpent who are sometimes called the Ophites, Sons of Snakes or the Nagas and are said to be the most wisest and powerful of races who have ever walked on earth.

In ancient Greece, the Greatest of all Serpents and the Prince of Good Demons (Angels) was Ophis (Οφιων, Ophiôn, Ophion who had reigned on Mount Olympus with his consort Eurynome).  Author and occultist, HP Blavatsky had written in Isis Unveiled that the Greeks called Apollo also by the name of Python, which is rendered the same as Ophis, Opis, Oupis, and Oub. Both, Apollo and Ophis were the sons of Zeus who is father of the Gods, father of men, the god of light, truth and prophecy, healing, plague, music, poetry, and more. The followers of Ophis were called the Ophites. Ophis is the Greek equivalent to the ancient Egyptian

She said the followers of Ophis were called the Ophites. Ophis is the Greek equivalent to the ancient Egyptian Apap or Aph-ophis, the Great Serpent who later became Apis, or Epaphus, the Sacred Bull of Egypt. Blavatsky had written, that Apollo and Python, Osiris and Typhon, Christos and the Serpent, are all convertible terms and the followers of this cult that were called Masters of Wisdom, and all Initiates into the Sacred Mysteries, are called Nagas, or Serpents of Wisdom.

Aria-DNE = Aryan-DNA = Gnosis of the Gods = Noble

The name Ariadne means “most holy”, composed of the Cretan Greek elements αρι (ari) “most”, and αδνος (adnos) “holy”. Meaning “noble.” After all, she was born of the Gods and her name may also signify the DNA of the Aryan race. Her name can be found all over the world such as in India by the names Arya, or Ariya, ‘ the noble, “a name preserved unaltered in Indian traditions and in Sanscrit, Aryaman, “friend;” Ariaka, “nobleman;” Ariata, “honourable conduct;” its meaning of ” noble,” ” excellent.”

Aria’na is also the ancient name of a region in the west central part of Asia, inhabited by the Aryan or Arian race. We also find the Aryans all over the world such as in the names of the Island of Erin in Ireland which is named after their Aryan founders and the Arii of Germany, of the Ases of Scandinavia, and of the Island of Erin (Ireland).
