Fasting Journal: Day 2 of My 3 Day Cleanse and Fast

This is part 3, in my series of articles on the 3 Day Cleanse and Fast that I had just completed. This detoxifying diet is partially my own creation, because it was my idea to start with a 48 hours fruit and vegetable cleanse only, and then to finish it off with a 24 hour distilled water fast. The reason I chose to cleanse for 48 hours with fruits and vegetables, was because I had never done this before in my 42 years of fleshly life. Therefor, I wanted to slowly ease into a 24 hour water fast, then later I will do a 3 day and 10 day water fast, which I will also document here on GnosticWarrior.com.

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE 2ND DAY OF MY CLEANSE?

Detox Diets

In my last article titled; Fasting Journal: The Food List of the 3 Day Cleanse and Fast, I had given you my food list of what I was eating on both day 1 and 2 of this 48 hour cleanse phase of the diet. To be honest, my second day was much easier than my first day of the cleanse. On my first day, I had extreme hunger pains like a Grizzly Bear was growling from my stomach about every few minutes. You actually get used to this a bit and can offset it with distilled water, but they never really go completely away.

The hunger pains on my second day were less severe than my first day because my body was slowly adapting to the restriction of calories. Since this was only a 72 hours cleanse and fast, there is no way I could get used to the restrictions or find a true mental groove to get into. The one thing that kept me going and helped me make it to the end, was the fact that after 72 hours I got to eat again. I think this fact made it more difficult, than if I was to do this for 7 days or 10 days.

In any event, day 2 was easier than day 1. It was uneventful and I felt pretty darn good, except for the growling in my stomach, which as I mentioned above, was a lot less than the first day. But let me please tell you, the third day where I had went on the distilled only water fast, was a horrible experience.

Please stay tuned for that painful detoxifying article.

Fasting Journal: The Food List of the 3 Day Cleanse and Fast

In my previous article, Fasting Journal: My First Day of a 3 Day Cleanse & Fast, I had given you some details of a health Food list cleanseprogram that will be part of the new Gnostic Warrior Health Series. As I mentioned in that article, the first two days of the cleanse, you only eat specific cleansing herbs, fruits and vegetables with absolutely no sugars, coffees, salts, meats etc. Then on the third day, you do a complete 24 hour distilled water only fast with no foods, juices etc. on this last day of the cleanse.

I do not like to think too much about food lists and ingredients. The reason, is because I know there are some very intelligent people on the internet who have already done much of this research for me. With their great work, my life now becomes easier and that is the whole point of utilizing the internet for research. Awesome search engines like Google makes our lives much easier by saving us all years of research, like it has for me in seeking the best information there is on these type of diets. This is how you can co-create your own life with the help of other people from around the world, like me who have done it themselves.

The best 48 hour cleanse I found, was a detoxifying food list that I had taken from Dr. Oz.com, which he had graciously published. After researching the ingredients and facts of the cleanse, I was 100% sold on his meal plan. The meals are fairly easy to make and they taste pretty good. My favorite foods are the breakfast of Quinoa with Prunes and also the fruit smoothie.

IMPORTANT: For a detox diet to truly work, you need to maintain these three key organs by nourishing your body with the right nutrients. This 48-Hour Weekend Cleanse is based upon eating certain “detoxifying” foods that will keep these systems running smoothly.

Food List of the 3 Day Cleanse and Fast

Breakfast: Quinoa With Prunes

Start your morning off with a bowl of quinoa; this healthy whole grain is also a complete protein, and it’s high in phosphorus and fiber. Top it with prunes; they’re high in fiber and sorbitol, a chemical that acts like a laxative.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup quinoa, rinsed
1 cup water
1 pinch nutmeg
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp flaxseed oil
1/3 cup chopped prunes
1/4 cup rice milk

Snack: Pineapple, Lemon and Pomegranate Blend-Free Detox Drink

If you don’t have a juicer to make the first drink, mix up this easy detox concoction with ready-made juices and cut with water.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
1 lemon
1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
3 cups water

Lunch: Fruit Smoothie

In a blender, whip up a nourishing smoothie that contains blueberries, loaded with quercetin, a flavonoid that boosts immunity and is good for your liver; bananas, full of vitamin B6, an essential vitamin for liver detoxification; and ground flaxseed, packed with brain-nourishing omega-3s and fiber for healthy elimination.

Ingredients:

½ cup almond or hemp milk (plain/unsweetened)
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or chia
¼ cup frozen blueberries
¼ banana
½ cup ice

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.

Dinner: Vegetable Broth Soup

This purifying broth contains fennel to help bile flow in your gallbladder; garlic to help with liver and gall bladder function; cabbage, excellent for detoxification in both the liver and kidneys; and shitake mushrooms to boost liver enzymes. Serve soup with a side of sauerkraut with sliced apples. Sauerkraut contains probiotics, the good bacteria that protect your GI tract. Make sure to use traditionally fermented sauerkraut to get the greatest health benefits. Apples boost both kidney and liver function.

Vegetable Broth Ingredients:

2 red onions, roughly chopped
2 stalks celery, roughly chopped
1 fennel bulb, fronds and stalks included, roughly chopped
2 tsp caraway seeds
2 tsp sea salt
Freshly ground pepper
1 cup sliced shitake caps
4 large cloves garlic, chopped
1 cabbage, roughly chopped
2 quarts water
2 tbsp paprika
2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
8 sprigs parsley, chopped stems and leaves
1/2 cup parsley, chopped

Fasting Journal: My First Day of a 3 Day Cleanse & Fast

This is part 1 in a series of articles I plan to create on health for the Gnostic Warrior. I’m documenting this for people out Fastingthere who may be interested in fasting themselves, but have been reluctant like me to get started in taking the fasting plunge. Maybe my journey to better health can help motivate some of you to start your own fasting path.

The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, Socrates, and Plato all  recommended fasting to improve health. In the Bible, it is written that both Moses and Jesus Christ fasted 40 days for spiritual renewal. The  the 4th century Greek mathematician, Pythagoras had required all new initiates into his secret society of the Pythagoreans to fast for a period of 40 days, and if you couldn’t fast for that period of time, you were considered impure and unfit to be initiated into his secret mystery school. The 16th century famous Swiss physician Paracelsus said, “Fasting is the greatest remedy”, and called it the” physician within.” Gandhi had fasted for 21 days, which was used as weapon by Gandhi as part of his philosophy to promote peace amongst nations and religions.

After reading all these great things on fasting, I thought it was time to partake in my own fasting journey. For the first time in my life, I’m beginning a two-day cleanse and 24 hour complete distilled water fast that lasts for a total of three days. My goal is to help begin the process of detoxifying my 42-year-old body in baby steps, as opposed to going straight out in the desert for 40 days of fasting like Jesus had done. I’m no Jesus, and with that said, my first fast will technically only be for 24 hours, which in future fasts, I hope to get to 3 days, and eventually to 10 days.

MY FIRST DAY (12/12/2013):

The first two days of this diet/cleanse, you eat specific cleansing herbs, fruits and vegetables only; absolutely no sugars, coffees, salts, meats etc. Then on the third day, you do a complete 24 hour distilled water only fast with no foods, juices etc. on this last day of the cleanse.

This may not seem like a big deal to some of you heath experts out there who fast regularly, but for a person such as myself who has never done a fast before, and one who has lived in my flesh for much of my 42 years of life, this is somewhat of a big deal. More often than not, people such as myself can barely fathom not eating one meal, let alone not eating for a whole day or more. So my health theory in order to make this a success since I’m a total newbie, is to take it easy and slowly and by beginning this fast with 1 day, then a 3 day, and eventually a 10 day fast as I see fit in 2014 and beyond.

What I have found a bit tough on the first day of this cleanse, which was yesterday, was the constant hunger pains throughout the day. My stomach was used to having way more food than is allowed on this diet and it let me know it wasn’t happy all day long yesterday. I also felt pretty weak yesterday, but today I feel much better and the hunger pains are not as bad.

You see, before the cleanse I was a pretty big eater, who would often have 2 cups of coffee, a banana, and organic rice cereal by 7 am, and by 9am, my wife was serving me some type of 4 egg breakfast with fruit, veggies, toast and a large cup of orange juice. Before this cleanse by 9am daily, I was already consuming a 1,000 calories and with this diet, I’m consuming maybe 200-300 until about noon. Hence, this is why I have these pains.

WHY AM I DOING THIS?

I have many reasons for doing this. The main reason I’m doing this, is to clean my body of the toxins, drugs and ill affects I have caused or those from the environment over the last four decades. I feel that it is better late than never to start on this process that I plan to make part of the rest of my life’s path. A path that I hope to be as toxin, worm and parasite free as humanly possible in this inhumane world.

Also, our bodies are like machines. My constant eating habits had made my machine used to having fuel every couple of hours, which trains my body to eat and require this food most all of the day. When I do not have food at these times, I get very hungry, grumpy and edgy. This bad eating habit is something I feel that is not good for me, my family or my food budget. I would like to eat just 3 meals a day and feel good with that amount. In order to do this, I will have to train my body to require less food by simply eating less often.

With these two simple goals, I should be able to effectively clean my body and mind of all the toxins and worms, and also manage my flesh better than having it manage me.

In my next article, I will detail the food I’m eating during this 48 hour detox/cleanse diet I’m on right now.

Zion, Lion and the Devil

The meaning of the name Zion is ‘stone’, and the meaning of Mount Zion is “The Mount of Stone.”(1) In the bible, Zion was Mount Zionthe hill in Jerusalem on which the city of David was built; and to the Christians, it is the heavenly city or kingdom of heaven.

The ancient symbology of the stone and mountain, had originated from the black cube-shaped stone that represents the Greek Goddess Cybele who fell to earth as a meteor to Mount Ida on the Holy Island of Crete. This is the island where the King of the Gods, Zeus (Jupiter) was born and hidden in a cave on the same said mountain. The symbols of Cybele are, the black cube stone, meteor, cornucopia, mural crown, chariot and lions.

She is the “Great Mountain Mother (Mater Idaea or Idaean Mother)”, who was often depicted in a chariot drawn by lions as if she was circling her pray. Virgil had said that the King Aeneas had ships sacred to Cybele and had decorated his ship’s prow in representation of the sacred Mount Ida and a pair of lions. In Rome, Cybele was known as the Magna Mater. (more…)
