The Vatican is warning people around the world, that Halloween is one of the most dangerous spiritual holidays of the year. ADemons time that Italian exorcist, the Rev. Aldo Buonaiuto said “there is an increase in black magic rites, cemetery desecrations, thefts of sacred bones and the adoration of Satan, as well as demonic possessions.”

As innocent children around the world get excited about dressing up in their favorite costumes and prepare for an evening of trick or treating filled with sweet candy, Pope Francis is also warning about the continuous battle with Satan and that “the devil is no myth and must be fought strenuously with “God’s armor.”

Francis said in his homily at a morning Mass at the Vatican on Thursday; “This generation, and many others, have been led to believe that the devil is a myth, a figure, an idea, the idea of evil,” the pope told the faithful during Mass at the St. Martha guesthouse where he lives inside the walls of the Vatican.

“But the devil exists and we must fight against him.”

The exorcist, Rev. Aldo Buonaiuto had stated that Halloween should be replaced by a new celebration of Christian saints and renamed “Holyween.” He said too many people wrongly believe Halloween is a “simple carnival”; instead, he said, it masks “a subterranean world” based on the occult.

“For followers of the occult, Oct. 31 is the satanic new year,” he told the Italian daily La Nazione. “It’s a time for attracting new converts. And it’s also a time when exorcists have to work more.”

Last year around this same time, Pope Francis had issued a similar warning about the devil, how mental illness was often misdiagnosed and was the result of demon possession. Francis said last October;

“There are some priests who, when they read this Gospel passage, this and others say: ‘But, Jesus healed a person with a mental illness’. They do not read this, no? It is true that at that time, they could confuse epilepsy with demonic possession; but it is also true that there was the devil! And we do not have the right to simplify the matter, as if to say: ‘All of these (people) were not possessed; they were mentally ill’. No! The presence of the devil is on the first page of the Bible, and the Bible ends as well with the presence of the devil, with the victory of God over the devil.”
