The name Jedi (Djedhi) is derived from the Hebrew (Phoenician) name Yedidya, or more commonly Jedidiah- meaning Jedi Knightsbeloved of the Lord, friend of God. The name Jedi is also called in the bible, bedheydh, (“servant of Yah “Yahweh”). Yahweh  (Jahveh, Jehovah or Iehoua pronounced “yohweh” or /ˈjɑːw/ or /ˈjɑːhw/; Hebrew: יהוה‎) in the Hebrew Bible,  is written as יהוה (YHWH) and was the name of the Hebrew national god of the Iron Age kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

In the bible from Samuel xii. 24 we learn that the proper name of King Solomon was Jedidiah, “because of the Lord;” and when he styles himself Koheleth, and describing himself  “the son of David, the king of Jerusalem.”  King Solomon was also called one of the ten sons through “The children of Bani; ” Dad: dear. Dodai (m): very dear, con. Dido, David, Jedidiah: dear to Jehovah. ” Over the course of the second month was Dodai.” Other spellings of the name Jedi are Jed, Jedd, Jeddy, Jededish, Jedi, and Jebediah.

I had written on these Jedi Knights before on this blog in my article, “May the force be with you,”  where I explain that in the hit cult movie Star Wars, “May the Force be with you” is said by a person named General Dodonna. The name Dodonna you will find is very similar to the biblical King David and this is no coincidence. David, Daoud, or Dood means the beloved ; and as a mythical character the beloved one, the Lord’s anointed. (Hebrew: דָּוִד, דָּוִיד, Modern David Tiberian Dāwîḏ; ISO 259-3 Dawid; Strong’s Daveed; beloved; Arabic: داوود‎ or داود‎ Dāwūd).

The Ancient Israelites had called their Lord and King, the planet Jupiter, by the Hebrew (Phoenician) names Yahweh and Jehovah. In modern Judaism, the name Yahweh has been replaced with the word Adonai, meaning Lord. Hence, the name Jedi (Jedidiah) is the son of the King of Planets and Lord of the Sky, Jupiter.

Augustus as priestThe first original Jedi Knight was King Solomon. The Jedi Knights (Jeudi, Djedi or Jupiter) of King Solomon are building Solomon’s Temple. They are the founding priests and warrior kings of Jupiter Amon, who in Rome were also known as the Flamen Dialis. In ancient Roman religion and myth, Jupiter (Latin: Iuppiter) or Jove is the king and the Romans were the successors of this priesthood under Augustus Caesar as Grand Master of these Jedi Knights. Under the rule of Jedi Augustus, he had abolished all other competing priesthoods after the murder of his father. To atone for the crime, he demanded that blood be shed and he had sacrificed to death approximately 300 aristocrats that may have been involved in the death of his father or would have become a threat to the priesthood.

The name Jedi can be found in modern culture with Jupiter’s day, or more commonly known as Thursday, and also Jovedi or Jove to the Romans, Thor to the Anglo Saxons, and Jeudi to the French. Jupiter Knights are also seen in world-wide hit movies such as Star Wars and the Empire Strikes Back, where the Jedi Knight in training, Luke Skywalker attempts to master the force within, so he can master the forces without. Luke eventually completes his Jedi (Jupiter) training in order to become a true Jedi (Jupiter) Knight who is referred to as a member of the Jedi Order.

The Grand Master of the Jedi Knights was Master Yoda, who had bestowed upon Obi-Wan Kenobi the rank of Jedi Knight. The name (Ben) Obi-Wan Kenobi who is the high priest has special meaning. The name Ben in ancient Syrian, Hebrew and Arabic means son; “Wan” is an Old English (Saxon) word which means “dark”, or in Anglo-Saxon to wan/wane, and the word Ken in English means knowledge, understanding, or cognizance; mental perception: an idea beyond one’s ken. Ken is derived from the Greek word for dog Kuon (ΚΥΩΝ / κύων, Κύνες,  kuon or kyon), who in the ancient Greek schools of philosophy the name was for wise men, sages and adepts.

In the movie Luke says to his sister Leia that he is her brother,  by stating “The Force runs strong in my family.” This chemical, or should I say “life force”, is the force that is often spoken about and is first described by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as an energy field created by all living things that surrounds and penetrates living beings and binds the galaxy together.

Once a Jedi Knight masters this force within, they can master the forces without. They then become true immortal Gnostic Warriors, both through self-mastery, and also by becoming a master of the worldly affairs that governs this earth and helps shape our destinies.
