In ancient Sumerian mythology, the 8-pointed star represents the God of the heaven who was called Anu (Aunu, Aun).
For the Hindus it represents the eight emanations known as Ashtalakshmi, which are represented by two entwined squares forming an octagram. The eight paths in the way of Buddah and eight immortals in Chinese tradition carry weight within their culture. To the Christians and their Templar warriors, it is can be found in the 8 pointed Cross Pattee of the Knights Templar

The number eight corresponds to the New Testament, according to Ambroise. In Christianity there are eight beatitudes: poverty of spirit; mourning; meekness; desire of righteousness; mercy; purity of heart; the peacemaker; and suffering for the sake of righteousness. It is the number of salvation, the baptismal font is octagonal, and the sign of God’s covenant. 8 is the number of the New Beginning found in the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Revelation the Anti-Christ is the eighth king.
